Bölüm 1

Kullanım Koşulları

MetuConnect, EduCRS Inc. ("EduCRS", "biz") tarafından işletilen, ODTÜ öğrencileri için ders sayfaları, not paylaşımı, soru-cevap forumu ve teslim takibi sunan ücretsiz bir platformdur. Hesap açarak ya da MetuConnect'i kullanarak bu koşulları kabul etmiş olursun. Kişisel verilerin için KVKK Aydınlatma Metni ve Gizlilik Politikası geçerlidir.

1. Hizmet

  • Ders sayfaları: Her ders kodunun bir sayfası vardır: öğrencilerin yüklediği notlar, derse bağlı tartışmalar, ortak teslim tarihleri, ders değerlendirmeleri ve dersi takip edenler.
  • Forum: Bir derse bağlı ya da genel sorular, yanıtlar ve oylar. Soruyu soran bir yanıtı kabul edebilir.
  • Teslimler: Kendi teslim tarihlerin ve derslerinin ortak tarihleri.
  • ODTÜClass bağlantısı (isteğe bağlı): Derslerinin dosyaları, duyuruları, ödevleri ve not çizelgen MetuConnect'te görünür; teslim tarihlerin kendiliğinden gelir.
  • Icarus AI ile bağlantı: Icarus AI'dan özet gönderme, ödev planı, izlenceden tarih çıkarma ve haftalık duyuru özeti.

MetuConnect ücretsizdir; ödeme almaz, reklam göstermez. Özellikleri zamanla değiştirebiliriz. MetuConnect'i ODTÜ değil EduCRS işletir; ODTÜClass ve ODTÜ kataloğu ODTÜ'nün hizmetleridir.

2. Kimler kullanabilir

  • MetuConnect, @metu.edu.tr (ya da ceng.metu.edu.tr gibi bir alt alan adı) e-posta adresi olan ODTÜ mensupları içindir. E-posta ve şifreyle açılan hesaplar, adres doğrulandıktan sonra kullanılabilir. Google ile giriş yalnızca ODTÜ adresli Google hesaplarıyla çalışır.
  • Hesabın, EduCRS'in Icarus AI ürünüyle ortaktır: aynı hesapla ikisine de girersin. Icarus AI'ı kullanırken onun yasal metinleri geçerlidir.
  • Bir hesap bir kişi içindir; başkası adına hesap açamaz, hesabını başkasıyla paylaşamazsın.
  • Şifrenin gizliliğinden ve hesabınla yapılan işlemlerden sen sorumlusun. Yetkisiz bir kullanım fark edersen hemen bize yaz.

3. Paylaştığın içerik

  • Yüklediğin notlar, açtığın tartışmalar, yanıtların, eklediğin ortak teslim tarihleri ve ders değerlendirmelerin senin içeriğindir. Onları paylaşma hakkına sahip olduğunu kabul edersin; not yüklerken bunu ayrıca onaylarsın: "Bu içeriği paylaşma hakkım olduğunu ve telif kurallarına uyduğunu onaylıyorum."
  • Paylaştıkların yalnızca doğrulanmış ODTÜ hesaplarına ve moderatörlere görünür; açık web'de yayınlanmaz. Adın paylaştıklarının yanında görünür; anonim paylaşım yoktur.
  • Bize, içeriğini yalnızca MetuConnect'i sunmak için (saklamak, diğer öğrencilere göstermek ve indirtmek, moderasyon) kullanma izni verirsin. İçeriğini satmayız, reklam için kullanmayız.
  • Notlar, yanıtlar ve ortak teslim tarihleri öğrenciler tarafından eklenir; doğruluklarını garanti etmeyiz. Önemli bir tarihi resmi kaynaktan kontrol et.

4. Akademik dürüstlük ve telif hakkı

  • MetuConnect birlikte öğrenmek içindir. Notlandırılan bir çalışmanın (ödev, proje, lab, quiz, sınav) çözümünü paylaşmak ya da istemek ve ODTÜ'nün ya da dersin akademik dürüstlük kurallarına aykırı her paylaşım yasaktır. Bu kurallara uymak senin sorumluluğundadır; bu tür kullanımdan doğan disiplin süreçlerinden EduCRS sorumlu değildir.
  • Ders kitapları, çözüm kılavuzları ve ücretli materyaller gibi telif korumalı içerikleri hak sahibinin izni olmadan yükleyemezsin. Öğretim üyelerinin hazırladığı materyaller onların eseridir.
  • ODTÜClass sekmesinde gördüğün ders dosyaları yalnızca sana görünür. Birini MetuConnect'e yüklemek ayrı bir paylaşımdır ve bu kurallara tabidir.

5. Yasak kullanım

  • Taciz, hakaret, tehdit ya da nefret söylemi
  • Başkalarının kişisel verilerini (telefon, adres, fotoğraf, notlar gibi) izinsiz paylaşmak
  • Başkasının yerine geçmek; yanıltıcı ya da yasa dışı içerik, reklam ve spam paylaşmak
  • Başkasının ODTÜClass hesabını bağlamak
  • Hizmete bot, kazıyıcı ya da otomatik araçlarla erişmek, içeriği toplu çekmek; yazma sınırlarını ya da güvenlik kurallarını aşmaya çalışmak
  • Sisteme zarar verebilecek dosya ya da kod yüklemek

6. Moderasyon ve kaldırma

  • Her not, bir moderatör onaylayana kadar yalnızca sana ve moderatörlere görünür. Moderatör notu onaylar ya da reddeder; kararı uygulama içi bildirimle öğrenirsin. Reddedilen notun dosyası silinir.
  • Moderatörler bu koşullara aykırı notları, tartışmaları, yanıtları ve ortak teslim tarihlerini kaldırabilir.
  • Ağır ya da tekrarlanan ihlallerde hesabının MetuConnect'e erişimini kapatabiliriz.
  • Kurallara aykırı bir içerik görürsen iletisim@educrs.com adresine yaz.

7. Yapay zekâ özellikleri

İzlenceden tarih çıkarma, "Icarus ile planla" ve haftalık duyuru özeti, Icarus AI üzerinden Google Gemini ile çalışır. Yanıtlar hatalı ya da eksik olabilir; bir tarihi ya da talimatı kullanmadan önce ODTÜClass'taki aslıyla karşılaştır. İzlenceden çıkan tarihlerden yalnızca seçip eklediklerin Teslimler'e yazılır. Bu özellikler Icarus AI'ın kullanım sınırlarına tabidir; sınır dolduğunda bir süre çalışmayabilir.

8. Hizmetin sunulması

Hizmet "olduğu gibi" sunulur; kesintisiz ya da hatasız çalışacağını garanti etmeyiz. ODTÜClass, ODTÜ kataloğu ve Icarus AI'a bağlı özellikler, o hizmetler değiştiğinde ya da erişilemediğinde çalışmayabilir. Özellikleri değiştirebilir, askıya alabilir ya da sonlandırabiliriz. Yasanın izin verdiği ölçüde, hizmetin kullanılmasından ya da kullanılamamasından doğan dolaylı zararlardan sorumlu değiliz.

9. Hesabın kapanması

Uygulamada henüz hesap silme düğmesi yok. Hesabının ve MetuConnect verilerinin silinmesini istersen bize yaz; neyin silindiği Gizlilik Politikası'nda yazar.

10. Değişiklikler, hukuk ve iletişim

Bu koşulları güncelleyebiliriz; güncel sürüm tarihiyle bu sayfada yayımlanır. Değişiklikten sonra MetuConnect'i kullanmaya devam etmen yeni koşulları kabul ettiğin anlamına gelir. Koşullar Türk hukukuna tabidir; uyuşmazlıklarda Ankara mahkemeleri ve icra daireleri yetkilidir.

Section 1

Terms of Use

MetuConnect is a free platform run by EduCRS Inc. ("EduCRS", "we") that gives METU students course pages, note sharing, a Q&A forum and deadline tracking. By creating an account or using MetuConnect you accept these terms. Your personal data is covered by the KVKK Notice and the Privacy Policy.

1. The service

  • Course pages: every course code has a page: notes uploaded by students, discussions tied to the course, shared deadlines, course ratings and the people following it.
  • Forum: questions tied to a course or general, answers and votes. The asker can accept an answer.
  • Deadlines: your own due dates and the shared dates of your courses.
  • ODTÜClass connection (optional): your courses' files, announcements, assignments and gradebook show up in MetuConnect, and your due dates arrive on their own.
  • Linked with Icarus AI: sending summaries from Icarus AI, assignment plans, syllabus date extraction and a weekly announcement brief.

MetuConnect is free: it takes no payments and shows no ads. We may change features over time. MetuConnect is run by EduCRS, not by METU; ODTÜClass and the METU catalog are METU's services.

2. Who may use it

  • MetuConnect is for members of METU with an @metu.edu.tr email address (or a subdomain such as ceng.metu.edu.tr). Accounts created with email and password can be used once the address is verified. Google sign-in works only with Google accounts on a METU address.
  • Your account is shared with Icarus AI, another EduCRS product: the same account signs you in to both. When you use Icarus AI, its legal terms apply.
  • An account is for one person: you may not open one for someone else or share yours.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for what is done with your account. If you notice unauthorised use, write to us right away.

3. What you share

  • The notes you upload, the discussions you start, your answers, the shared deadlines you add and your course ratings are your content. You confirm that you have the right to share them, and you confirm it again when you upload a note: "I confirm I have the right to share this content and that it respects copyright."
  • What you share is visible only to verified METU accounts and moderators; it is not published on the open web. Your name appears next to what you share; there are no anonymous posts.
  • You allow us to use your content only to provide MetuConnect (store it, show it to other students and let them download it, moderate it). We do not sell your content or use it for advertising.
  • Notes, answers and shared deadlines are added by students; we do not guarantee they are correct. Check an important date with the official source.

4. Academic integrity and copyright

  • MetuConnect is for learning together. Sharing or asking for solutions to graded work (homework, projects, labs, quizzes, exams), and anything else that breaks METU's or the course's academic integrity rules, is not allowed. Following those rules is your responsibility; EduCRS is not responsible for disciplinary proceedings arising from such use.
  • You may not upload copyrighted material such as textbooks, solution manuals or paid material without the rights holder's permission. Material prepared by instructors is their work.
  • The course files you see in the ODTÜClass tab are visible only to you. Uploading one to MetuConnect is a separate act of sharing and falls under these rules.

5. Prohibited use

  • Harassment, insults, threats or hate speech
  • Sharing other people's personal data (phone numbers, addresses, photos, grades and the like) without permission
  • Impersonating someone; posting misleading or illegal content, advertising or spam
  • Connecting someone else's ODTÜClass account
  • Accessing the service with bots, scrapers or other automated tools, pulling content in bulk, or trying to get around the write limits or security rules
  • Uploading files or code that could harm the system

6. Moderation and removal

  • Every note is visible only to you and the moderators until a moderator approves it. The moderator approves or rejects it and you learn the decision from an in-app notification. A rejected note's file is deleted.
  • Moderators can remove notes, discussions, answers and shared deadlines that break these terms.
  • For serious or repeated breaches we may close your account's access to MetuConnect.
  • If you see content that breaks the rules, write to iletisim@educrs.com.

7. AI features

Syllabus date extraction, "Plan with Icarus" and the weekly announcement brief run on Google Gemini through Icarus AI. Answers may be wrong or incomplete; compare a date or an instruction with the original on ODTÜClass before you rely on it. Of the dates found in a syllabus, only the ones you select and add are written to Deadlines. These features are subject to Icarus AI's usage limits and may stop for a while when a limit is reached.

8. Providing the service

The service is provided "as is"; we do not guarantee it will run without interruption or errors. Features that depend on ODTÜClass, the METU catalog or Icarus AI may stop working when those services change or cannot be reached. We may change, suspend or end features. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from using or being unable to use the service.

9. Closing your account

There is no delete-account button in the app yet. If you want your account and your MetuConnect data deleted, write to us; what deletion covers is set out in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes, law and contact

We may update these terms; the current version is published on this page with its date. Continuing to use MetuConnect after a change means you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by Turkish law; the courts and enforcement offices of Ankara have jurisdiction.

6698 sayılı Kişisel Verilerin Korunması Kanunu'nun 10. maddesi uyarınca

Bu metin, MetuConnect'i kullanırken kişisel verilerinin veri sorumlusu sıfatıyla EduCRS Inc. tarafından hangi amaçla, hangi hukuki sebeple ve kimlerle paylaşılarak işlendiğini ve haklarını açıklar. Ayrıntılar Gizlilik Politikası'nda.

  • İşlem güvenliği: Oturum bilgileri, kötüye kullanımı sınırlamak için son paylaşım zamanların, giriş ve kayıt formundaki bot koruması sinyalleri; sayfaları ve isteklerini işleyen sunucuların gördüğü IP adresi ve tarayıcı bilgisi.
  • Tanıtım sayfası: Analiz çerezlerini kabul edersen ziyaret istatistikleri (Google Analytics).

3. İşleme amaçları

  • Hesabının oluşturulması, ODTÜ e-postasıyla doğrulanması ve yönetimi
  • Ders sayfaları, not paylaşımı, forum, ders değerlendirmeleri ve teslim takibinin sunulması
  • İçeriklerin moderasyonu ve kötüye kullanımın önlenmesi
  • İstediğinde ODTÜClass bağlantısının ve yapay zekâ özelliklerinin çalıştırılması
  • Uygulama içi bildirimlerin iletilmesi
  • Güvenliğin sağlanması
  • Tanıtım sayfasının ziyaret istatistiklerinin ölçülmesi (izin verirsen)
  • Başvuruların yanıtlanması, hukuki yükümlülüklerin yerine getirilmesi ve yetkili mercilerin taleplerinin karşılanması

4. Toplama yöntemi ve hukuki sebepler

Veriler; kayıt ve giriş formları, profil, paylaşımlar, ODTÜClass bağlantısı ve uygulama içi işlemler aracılığıyla elektronik ortamda, kısmen otomatik yollarla toplanır. Hukuki sebepler (KVKK md. 5):

  • Sözleşmenin kurulması ve ifası (md. 5/2-c): hesabın ve hizmetin sunulması
  • Hukuki yükümlülük (md. 5/2-ç)
  • Bir hakkın tesisi, kullanılması veya korunması (md. 5/2-e)
  • Meşru menfaat (md. 5/2-f): güvenlik, bot koruması, moderasyon ve kötüye kullanımın önlenmesi
  • Açık rıza (md. 5/1): tanıtım sayfasındaki analiz çerezleri gibi gereken hâllerde

5. Aktarım

MetuConnect yurt dışında bulunan sağlayıcıların altyapısında çalıştığından veriler, yukarıdaki amaçlarla sınırlı olarak ve KVKK'nın 8. ve 9. maddelerine uygun şekilde şu alıcılara aktarılır:

  • Google LLC ve bağlı şirketleri: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore ve Cloud Storage (hesap, içerik ve dosyalar); Gemini API (yapay zekâ özelliklerini kullandığında, Icarus AI üzerinden); Google Analytics (yalnız tanıtım sayfası, izin verirsen); Google Fonts (yazı tipleri).
  • Cloudflare, Inc.: Barındırma, sunucu fonksiyonları ve bot koruması (Turnstile).
  • Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry): Icarus AI sunucusunda bir hata olduğunda, istek içeriği olmadan hata kaydı.
  • Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi: Yalnız ODTÜClass bağlantısını kullandığında; isteklerin çoğu doğrudan tarayıcından ODTÜClass'a gider.
  • Yetkili kamu kurum ve kuruluşları: Mevzuatın gerektirdiği hâllerde.

Paylaştığın içerikler ve profilinin bir kısmı, hizmetin doğası gereği diğer doğrulanmış ODTÜ hesaplarına görünür (bkz. Gizlilik Politikası).

Önemli: Kişisel verilerini satmayız; reklam ya da pazarlama için üçüncü kişilerle paylaşmayız.

6. Hakların (KVKK md. 11)

Veri sorumlusuna başvurarak;

  • kişisel verilerinin işlenip işlenmediğini öğrenme,
  • işlenmişse buna ilişkin bilgi talep etme,
  • işlenme amacını ve amacına uygun kullanılıp kullanılmadığını öğrenme,
  • yurt içinde veya yurt dışında aktarıldığı üçüncü kişileri bilme,
  • eksik veya yanlış işlenmişse düzeltilmesini isteme,
  • KVKK md. 7'deki şartlar çerçevesinde silinmesini veya yok edilmesini isteme,
  • düzeltme, silme ve yok etme işlemlerinin verilerin aktarıldığı üçüncü kişilere bildirilmesini isteme,
  • münhasıran otomatik sistemlerle analiz edilmesi suretiyle aleyhine bir sonucun ortaya çıkmasına itiraz etme,
  • kanuna aykırı işleme sebebiyle zarara uğraman hâlinde zararın giderilmesini talep etme

haklarına sahipsin.

7. Başvuru

Başvurunu, MetuConnect hesabında kayıtlı e-posta adresinden iletisim@educrs.com adresine ya da yazılı olarak yukarıdaki adrese iletebilirsin. Başvurular en geç 30 gün içinde ve kural olarak ücretsiz sonuçlandırılır. Başvurun reddedilir ya da yanıtı yetersiz bulursan Kişisel Verileri Koruma Kurulu'na şikâyette bulunabilirsin.

KVKK Notice

Under Article 10 of Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK)

This notice explains, as required by Turkish law, for what purpose, on what legal basis and with whom EduCRS Inc., as data controller, processes your personal data when you use MetuConnect, and what your rights are. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

2. Personal data processed

  • Identity: your name or display name; with Google sign-in, the name and profile photo on your Google account.
  • Contact: your METU email address.
  • Profile: your department, year, an optional short bio and the courses you follow.
  • User content: the notes and files you upload, your discussions and answers, your votes and "helpful" marks, your course ratings, the shared and personal deadlines you add, and summaries you send from Icarus AI.
  • ODTÜClass (if you connect it): the semester site you connect to, your name on ODTÜClass, the courses you are enrolled in, your ODTÜClass due dates and submission status; with the old calendar method, your calendar link. Your course files, announcements, assignment descriptions and gradebook are shown only in your browser and are not sent to our servers; when you use the AI features, the text involved is sent to Icarus AI.
  • Transaction security: session information, the times of your latest posts (used to limit abuse), bot-protection signals on the sign-in and sign-up form, and the IP address and browser details seen by the servers that handle the pages and your requests.
  • Landing page: visit statistics (Google Analytics), if you accept analytics cookies.

3. Purposes

  • Creating your account, verifying it with your METU email and managing it
  • Providing course pages, note sharing, the forum, course ratings and deadline tracking
  • Moderating content and preventing abuse
  • Running the ODTÜClass connection and the AI features when you ask for them
  • Delivering in-app notifications
  • Keeping the service secure
  • Measuring visits to the landing page (if you allow it)
  • Answering requests, meeting legal obligations and requests from competent authorities

4. Method of collection and legal bases

Data is collected electronically, partly by automated means, through the sign-up and sign-in forms, your profile, what you share, the ODTÜClass connection and in-app actions. Legal bases (KVKK Art. 5):

  • Establishing and performing a contract (Art. 5/2-c): providing your account and the service
  • Legal obligation (Art. 5/2-ç)
  • Establishing, exercising or protecting a right (Art. 5/2-e)
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 5/2-f): security, bot protection, moderation and abuse prevention
  • Explicit consent (Art. 5/1) where required, such as analytics cookies on the landing page

5. Transfers

MetuConnect runs on the infrastructure of providers based abroad, so data is transferred, only for the purposes above and in line with KVKK Articles 8 and 9, to:

  • Google LLC and its affiliates: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage (account, content and files); the Gemini API (when you use the AI features, through Icarus AI); Google Analytics (landing page only, if you allow it); Google Fonts (fonts).
  • Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting, server functions and bot protection (Turnstile).
  • Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry): an error record without the request's content, when something fails on the Icarus AI server.
  • Middle East Technical University: only when you use the ODTÜClass connection; most requests go from your browser straight to ODTÜClass.
  • Competent public authorities: where the law requires.

By the nature of the service, what you share and part of your profile are visible to other verified METU accounts (see the Privacy Policy).

Important: We do not sell your personal data or share it with third parties for advertising or marketing.

6. Your rights (KVKK Art. 11)

By applying to the data controller you can:

  • learn whether your personal data is processed,
  • request information if it is,
  • learn the purpose of processing and whether data is used for that purpose,
  • know the third parties in Türkiye or abroad it is transferred to,
  • ask for it to be corrected if incomplete or wrong,
  • ask for it to be erased or destroyed under the conditions of KVKK Art. 7,
  • ask for corrections and erasures to be notified to the third parties it was transferred to,
  • object to an outcome against you produced solely by automated analysis,
  • claim compensation if you suffer damage from unlawful processing.

7. How to apply

Send your request from the email address registered to your MetuConnect account to iletisim@educrs.com, or in writing to the address above. Requests are answered within 30 days and, as a rule, free of charge. If your request is refused or you find the answer insufficient, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Board (Kişisel Verileri Koruma Kurulu).

Gizlilik Politikası

MetuConnect'i kullanırken hangi verilerin nereye gittiğini, kimin görebildiğini, ne kadar kaldığını ve onları nasıl yönetebileceğini uygulamanın bugün çalıştığı gibi anlatıyoruz.

1. Kısaca

  • Verilerini satmıyoruz, reklam göstermiyoruz. MetuConnect ücretsizdir; ödeme bilgisi almaz.
  • Paylaştıkların yalnızca doğrulanmış @metu.edu.tr hesaplarına ve moderatörlere görünür; açık web'de yayınlanmaz.
  • ODTÜClass şifren bize hiç ulaşmaz; erişim anahtarı yalnızca bu tarayıcıda durur.
  • Yapay zekâ özellikleri yalnızca sen başlattığında çalışır; Google'a giden metne adın ya da e-postan eklenmez.
  • Giriş yaptıktan sonraki uygulamada analiz, reklam ya da hata takibi aracı yoktur.

2. Hesap

  • E-posta ile kayıtta ODTÜ e-posta adresin ve şifren alınır. Şifre Google Firebase Authentication'da saklanır, bize görünmez. Hesabı kullanmadan önce adresine gelen bağlantıyla doğrularsın.
  • Google ile girişte Google'dan adın, e-postan ve profil fotoğrafın gelir. Profil fotoğrafın yalnızca sana gösterilir; diğer öğrenciler adının baş harflerini görür. ODTÜ adresi olmayan bir Google hesabıyla denersen MetuConnect oturumu hemen kapatır; ancak Firebase'de, Icarus AI ile ortak bir hesap kaydı oluşmuş olabilir.
  • Firebase Authentication hesabın için e-posta adresini, adını, profil fotoğrafı bağlantısını, giriş yöntemini, açılış ve son giriş zamanını tutar. Hesap Icarus AI ile ortak olduğundan, profilinde adını değiştirdiğinde hesabındaki ad da değişir.
  • E-posta ile giriş ve kayıt formunda botları ayıklamak için Cloudflare Turnstile çalışır.
  • Gönderilen tek e-postalar hesap e-postalarıdır: doğrulama ve şifre sıfırlama (Firebase üzerinden). Bülten, pazarlama ya da bildirim e-postası göndermiyoruz; bildirimler yalnızca uygulamanın içindedir.

3. Profilin ve kimin gördüğü

  • Profilinde görünen adın, bölümün, sınıfın, isteğe bağlı kısa tanıtım yazın, takip ettiğin dersler ve hesabın açılış zamanı tutulur. Kötüye kullanımı sınırlamak için son not, tartışma, yanıt ve ortak teslim tarihi ekleme zamanların da buraya yazılır. E-posta adresin profilinde saklanmaz.
  • Profilini doğrulanmış ODTÜ hesapları görebilir. Adın notlarının, tartışmalarının ve yanıtlarının yanında görünür; bir dersi takip ettiğinde adın, bölümün ve sınıfın o dersin "Kim alıyor" sekmesinde listelenir.
  • Adın, paylaşım anında paylaşımın kaydına da yazılır; adını sonradan değiştirsen de eski paylaşımlarda o anki ad kalır.

4. Paylaştıkların

  • Notlar: Dosya Firebase Storage'da saklanır (en fazla 25 MB; PDF, Word, PowerPoint, metin ya da görsel) ve yükleyen olarak hesap kimliğinle işaretlenir. Not kaydında başlık, ders kodu, adın, dosya türü ve boyutu, indirme ve "faydalı" sayıları ve moderasyon durumu tutulur.
  • Moderasyon: Bir not, moderatör onaylayana kadar yalnızca sana ve moderatörlere görünür; onaylanınca doğrulanmış ODTÜ hesapları görebilir ve indirebilir. Reddedilen notun dosyası silinir, kaydı "reddedildi" olarak kalır.
  • Icarus AI'dan gelen özetler: Icarus AI'da bir özeti MetuConnect'e gönderdiğinde başlığı ve içeriği Gelen Kutusu'na yazılır. Bir derse eklediğinde not olarak moderasyona gider; Gelen Kutusu kaydı "kullanıldı" olarak kalır.
  • Forum: Tartışmanın başlığı, metni (en fazla 5.000 karakter), etiketleri ve varsa ders kodu, yanıtlar, oy sayıları ve kabul edilen yanıt, adınla birlikte doğrulanmış ODTÜ hesaplarına görünür.
  • Oylar ve "faydalı" işaretleri: Hangi tartışmaya, yanıta ya da nota oy verdiğin, bir oy iki kez sayılmasın diye hesap kimliğinle saklanır ve yalnızca sana açıktır; başkaları yalnızca toplamları görür.
  • Ders değerlendirmeleri: Zorluk (1–5), haftalık iş yükü (saat) ve dersi tavsiye edip etmediğin; her derse bir değerlendirme, hesap kimliğinle saklanır. Uygulama kimin ne verdiğini göstermez, yalnızca ortalamaları ve sayıyı gösterir. Değerlendirmeni istediğin an silebilirsin.
  • Ortak teslim tarihleri: Bir derse eklediğin tarih, başlığı ve türüyle dersi açan herkese görünür; kaydında adın da bulunur.
  • Bildirimler: Tartışmana gelen yanıtlar ve notunun onaylanması ya da reddedilmesi, uygulama içi bildirim olarak hesabında saklanır; bildirimde ilgili başlık ve (yanıtlarda) yanıtlayanın adı bulunur.

5. Kişisel teslim tarihlerin

Kendi eklediğin teslim tarihleri ve ODTÜClass'tan gelenler (başlık, ders kodu, tür, tarih, ODTÜClass bağlantısı ve gönderim durumu) hesabında saklanır ve yalnızca sana açıktır.

6. ODTÜClass bağlantısı

  • Şifren: Tarayıcından doğrudan ODTÜClass'a (odtuclass<yıl><dönem>.metu.edu.tr) gider; EduCRS sunucularına ulaşmaz ve saklanmaz.
  • Erişim anahtarı: ODTÜClass'ın verdiği dönemlik anahtar, ODTÜClass kullanıcı adın ve kullanıcı numaran yalnızca bu tarayıcıda tutulur ve çıkış yaptığında silinir.
  • Ders içerikleri: Dosyalar, duyurular, ödevler ve not çizelgen tarayıcın tarafından doğrudan ODTÜClass'tan okunur; dosyalar ODTÜClass ile tarayıcın arasında iner. Hızlı açılsın diye dosya listeleri ve duyuru alıntıları gibi bazı bilgiler bu tarayıcıda geçici olarak tutulabilir; sunucularımıza gitmez.
  • Hesabında saklananlar: Yalnızca senin okuyabildiğin özel bir kayıtta bağlantı yöntemi, bağlandığın dönem sitesi, ODTÜClass'taki adın, kayıtlı olduğun derslerin listesi ve son eşitleme zamanı; ODTÜClass'taki teslim tarihlerin kişisel teslimlerine yazılır. Uygulamayı açtığında, son eşitlemenin üzerinden 6 saat geçtiyse eşitleme kendiliğinden çalışır. ODTÜClass derslerini takip etmeyi seçersen o dersler takip listene eklenir.
  • Eski takvim yöntemi: ODTÜClass takvim bağlantını yapıştırdıysan bağlantı (içindeki anahtarla birlikte) bu özel kayıtta saklanır; takvim, sunucu fonksiyonumuz üzerinden ODTÜClass'tan çekilir. Fonksiyon bağlantıyı ya da takvimi kaydetmez.
  • Bağlantıyı kesmek: Ayarlar → Entegrasyonlar → Bağlantıyı kes dediğinde bu tarayıcıdaki anahtar, özel kayıt (ODTÜClass'la ilgili saklanan her şey) ve ODTÜClass'tan gelen teslim tarihleri silinir.
  • ODTÜ kataloğu: Bir dersin adını ve bölümünü göstermek için sunucu fonksiyonumuz catalog.metu.edu.tr'den yalnızca ders koduyla bilgi alır.

7. Yapay zekâ (Icarus AI ve Google Gemini)

MetuConnect'in kendi yapay zekâ sunucusu yoktur. Aşağıdaki üç özellik, EduCRS'in Icarus AI hizmetine istek gönderir; Icarus AI isteği Google'ın Gemini API'sine iletir ve yanıtı geri döndürür. Hiçbiri sen başlatmadan çalışmaz:

  • İzlenceden tarih çıkarma: "Tarihleri çıkar"a bastığında dersin ODTÜClass'taki izlence PDF'i (en fazla 8 MB) gönderilir.
  • Icarus ile planla: Bastığın ödevin adı, teslim tarihi, açıklamasının ilk 2.500 karakteri ve dersin ODTÜClass'taki en fazla 60 dosyasının adı gönderilir.
  • Haftalık duyuru özeti (Ana sayfa): "Duyuruları özetle"ye bir kez bastıktan sonra, son en fazla 10 ODTÜClass duyurusunun ders kodu, başlığı, tarihi ve metninin ilk 600 karakteri gönderilir. Bu seçim bu tarayıcıda hatırlanır; kartın altındaki "Otomatik özeti kapat" ile kapatabilirsin.

İsteklere ODTÜClass şifren ya da anahtarın eklenmez. İsteğe yalnızca oturum anahtarın (e-posta adresini de içeren Firebase kimlik belirteci) eklenir; Icarus AI sunucusu bununla hesabını doğrular, Icarus AI'daki plan ve askı durumunu okur ve kötüye kullanımı sınırlamak için IP adresini kısa süre bellekte sayar. İstek metni ve yanıt Icarus AI'da saklanmaz; bir hata olursa istek içeriği olmadan bir hata kaydı (adres, durum kodu, tarayıcı bilgisi, ülke) Sentry'ye gider. Google'a giden metne adın, e-postan ya da hesap kimliğin eklenmez; bu işlem Google'ın Gemini API koşullarına tabidir. Yanıtlar, aynı istek yeniden gönderilmesin diye bu sekmede geçici olarak tutulur.

8. Hizmet sağlayıcılar

  • Google: Firebase Authentication (hesap ve oturum), Cloud Firestore (profil, paylaşımlar, teslimler, bildirimler), Cloud Storage for Firebase (not dosyaları); Gemini API (yapay zekâ, Icarus AI üzerinden); Google Analytics (yalnız tanıtım sayfası, izin verirsen); Google Fonts (yazı tipleri ve simgeler).
  • Cloudflare: Barındırma (Cloudflare Pages), sunucu fonksiyonları (ODTÜClass takvimi ve ODTÜ kataloğu), Turnstile (bot koruması). Cloudflare sayfaları sunarken IP adresini ve tarayıcı bilgisini işler.
  • Icarus AI (EduCRS): Yapay zekâ isteklerini Google'a ileten sunucu; hata kayıtları için Sentry kullanır.
  • ODTÜ: ODTÜClass ve catalog.metu.edu.tr (yalnız bu özellikleri kullandığında).

9. Moderatörler ve ekibimiz

Moderatörler, EduCRS'in yetkilendirdiği hesaplardır. Onay bekleyen tüm notları ve dosyalarını görebilir, notları onaylayıp reddedebilir; tartışma, yanıt, not ve ortak teslim tarihlerini silebilirler. Özel kayıtlarını (ODTÜClass bilgilerin, kişisel teslimlerin, bildirimlerin, oyların, Gelen Kutusu) uygulamada göremezler. Altyapı hesaplarına erişimi olan ekip üyeleri verilere teknik olarak erişebilir; bu erişim yalnızca hizmeti işletmek, sorun gidermek ya da yasal yükümlülükleri yerine getirmek için kullanılır.

10. Saklama ve silme

  • Hesabın ve paylaşımların, sen silene ya da silinmesini isteyene kadar saklanır; süreli otomatik silme yoktur. ODTÜClass'tan gelen bir teslim tarihi, ODTÜClass'tan kalktığında bir sonraki eşitlemede silinir.
  • Uygulamadan kendin silebileceklerin: kişisel teslim tarihlerin, eklediğin ortak teslim tarihleri, ders değerlendirmen, tartışmaların ve yanıtların. Bir tartışmayı sildiğinde altındaki yanıtlar da veritabanından silinir.
  • Bir notu kaldırmak için uygulamada henüz düğme yok; notunun ve dosyasının silinmesini bize yazarak isteyebilirsin. Gelen Kutusu kayıtları ve bildirimler de istek üzerine silinir.
  • ODTÜClass bağlantısını kestiğinde ODTÜClass'la ilgili saklanan her şey silinir (bkz. 6).
  • Hesabını silmek için uygulamada henüz düğme yok. Kayıtlı e-posta adresinden iletisim@educrs.com adresine yaz; MetuConnect verilerin (profil, paylaşımlar ve dosyaları, teslimler, bildirimler, ODTÜClass bilgileri) silinir. Hesap Icarus AI ile ortak olduğundan, hesabın kendisinin de kapatılmasını istiyorsan bunu belirt; bu, Icarus AI hesabını da kapatır. Başvurular en geç 30 gün içinde sonuçlandırılır.
  • Bu tarayıcıdaki veriler: çıkış yaptığında ODTÜClass anahtarı ve ODTÜClass'la ilgili kalıcı tarayıcı verileri silinir; tercihlerin kalır (bkz. Çerez Politikası).

11. Güvenlik

Bağlantılar TLS ile şifrelenir; veriler Google Cloud'da depolanırken şifrelenir. Erişim, veritabanı ve depolama kurallarıyla sınırlıdır: MetuConnect içeriği yalnızca doğrulanmış ODTÜ hesaplarına ve moderatörlere, özel ODTÜClass kaydın, kişisel teslimlerin, bildirimlerin, oyların ve Gelen Kutusu kayıtların yalnızca sana açıktır. Kurallar ayrıca kısa aralıklarla art arda paylaşımı engeller. Hiçbir sistem tamamen risksiz değildir; bir güvenlik açığı fark edersen bize yaz.

12. Seçeneklerin ve hakların

  • Adını, bölümünü, sınıfını ve tanıtım yazını Profil → Profili düzenle'den değiştirebilirsin.
  • Bir dersi takipten çıkarabilirsin; o dersin "Kim alıyor" listesinden de çıkarsın.
  • Şifreni Ayarlar → Hesap'tan sıfırlayabilirsin (e-posta ile açılan hesaplarda).
  • ODTÜClass bağlantısını Ayarlar → Entegrasyonlar'dan kesebilir, haftalık özeti kartından kapatabilirsin.
  • Verilerinin bir kopyasını, düzeltilmesini ya da silinmesini iletisim@educrs.com adresinden isteyebilirsin. KVKK kapsamındaki hakların için KVKK Aydınlatma Metni'ne bak.

13. Değişiklikler ve iletişim

Section 3

Privacy Policy

What data goes where when you use MetuConnect, who can see it, how long it stays and how you can manage it, as the app works today.

1. In short

  • We do not sell your data and we show no ads. MetuConnect is free and takes no payment details.
  • What you share is visible only to verified @metu.edu.tr accounts and moderators; it is not published on the open web.
  • Your ODTÜClass password never reaches us; the access key stays only in this browser.
  • AI features run only when you start them; your name and email are not added to the text sent to Google.
  • The app you use after signing in has no analytics, advertising or error-tracking tools.

2. Account

  • Signing up with email takes your METU email address and a password. The password is kept by Google Firebase Authentication and is not visible to us. You verify your address with the link sent to it before using the account.
  • With Google sign-in, your name, email and profile photo come from Google. Your profile photo is shown only to you; other students see your initials. If you try a Google account without a METU address, MetuConnect signs it out at once; an account record, shared with Icarus AI, may still have been created in Firebase.
  • Firebase Authentication keeps, for your account, your email address, name, profile photo link, sign-in method, and when the account was created and last signed in. Because the account is shared with Icarus AI, changing your name in your profile also changes the name on your account.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile runs on the email sign-in and sign-up form to keep bots out.
  • The only emails sent are account emails: verification and password reset (through Firebase). We send no newsletters, marketing or notification emails; notifications live only inside the app.

3. Your profile and who sees it

  • Your profile holds your display name, department, year, an optional short bio, the courses you follow and when the account was created. To limit abuse, the times you last added a note, discussion, answer or shared deadline are written there too. Your email address is not stored in your profile.
  • Verified METU accounts can see your profile. Your name appears next to your notes, discussions and answers; when you follow a course, your name, department and year are listed in that course's "Members" tab.
  • Your name is also written into each post when you post it; if you change your name later, older posts keep the name you had then.

4. What you share

  • Notes: the file is stored in Firebase Storage (up to 25 MB; PDF, Word, PowerPoint, text or image) and stamped with your account id as the uploader. The note record keeps the title, course code, your name, file type and size, download and "helpful" counts, and the moderation status.
  • Moderation: a note is visible only to you and the moderators until a moderator approves it; once approved, verified METU accounts can see and download it. A rejected note's file is deleted and its record stays as "rejected".
  • Summaries from Icarus AI: when you send a summary from Icarus AI to MetuConnect, its title and content are written to your Inbox. When you attach it to a course it goes to moderation as a note; the Inbox record stays, marked as used.
  • Forum: a discussion's title, text (up to 5,000 characters), tags and course code if any, its answers, vote counts and the accepted answer are visible to verified METU accounts, with your name.
  • Votes and "helpful" marks: which discussions, answers or notes you voted for is stored with your account id, so that a vote counts once, and is open only to you; others see only the totals.
  • Course ratings: difficulty (1–5), weekly workload (hours) and whether you would recommend the course; one rating per course, stored with your account id. The app never shows who gave what, only the averages and the count. You can delete your rating at any time.
  • Shared deadlines: a date you add to a course is visible, with its title and type, to everyone who opens the course; its record also holds your name.
  • Notifications: answers to your discussions and the approval or rejection of your notes are stored in your account as in-app notifications; a notification holds the title involved and, for answers, the name of the person who answered.

5. Your personal deadlines

The due dates you add yourself and the ones from ODTÜClass (title, course code, type, date, ODTÜClass link and submission status) are stored in your account and are open only to you.

6. The ODTÜClass connection

  • Your password: goes from your browser straight to ODTÜClass (odtuclass<year><term>.metu.edu.tr); it never reaches EduCRS servers and is not stored.
  • Access key: the semester key ODTÜClass issues, your ODTÜClass username and user number are kept only in this browser and removed when you sign out.
  • Course content: files, announcements, assignments and your gradebook are read by your browser straight from ODTÜClass; files download between ODTÜClass and your browser. To open faster, some of it, such as file lists and announcement excerpts, may be kept in this browser for a while; it is not sent to our servers.
  • Kept in your account: in a private record only you can read, the connection method, the semester site, your name on ODTÜClass, the list of courses you are enrolled in and the last sync time; your ODTÜClass due dates are written to your personal deadlines. When you open the app and the last sync is more than 6 hours old, it syncs on its own. If you choose to follow your ODTÜClass courses, they are added to the courses you follow.
  • Old calendar method: if you pasted your ODTÜClass calendar link, the link (with the key inside it) is stored in that private record, and the calendar is fetched from ODTÜClass through our server function. The function does not store the link or the calendar.
  • Disconnecting: Settings → Integrations → Disconnect deletes the key in this browser, the private record (everything kept about ODTÜClass) and the due dates that came from ODTÜClass.
  • METU catalog: to show a course's name and department, our server function asks catalog.metu.edu.tr using only the course code.

7. AI (Icarus AI and Google Gemini)

MetuConnect has no AI server of its own. The three features below send a request to EduCRS's Icarus AI service, which passes it on to Google's Gemini API and returns the answer. None of them runs unless you start it:

  • Syllabus dates: when you press "Extract dates", the course's syllabus PDF on ODTÜClass (up to 8 MB) is sent.
  • Plan with Icarus: the assignment's name, due date, the first 2,500 characters of its description and the names of up to 60 of the course's files on ODTÜClass are sent.
  • Weekly announcement brief (Dashboard): after you press "Summarise announcements" once, the course code, title, date and first 600 characters of up to 10 recent ODTÜClass announcements are sent. This choice is remembered in this browser; you can turn it off with "Turn off the automatic summary" under the card.

Your ODTÜClass password and key are never added to these requests. The only thing attached is your session key (a Firebase ID token, which also carries your email address); the Icarus AI server uses it to verify your account, reads your Icarus AI plan and suspension status, and counts your IP address briefly in memory to limit abuse. Icarus AI does not store the request text or the answer; if something fails, an error record without the request's content (address, status code, browser details, country) goes to Sentry. Your name, email and account id are not added to the text sent to Google; this processing is subject to Google's Gemini API terms. Answers are kept for a while in this tab so the same request is not sent again.

8. Service providers

  • Google: Firebase Authentication (account and session), Cloud Firestore (profile, posts, deadlines, notifications), Cloud Storage for Firebase (note files); the Gemini API (AI, through Icarus AI); Google Analytics (landing page only, if you allow it); Google Fonts (fonts and icons).
  • Cloudflare: hosting (Cloudflare Pages), server functions (the ODTÜClass calendar and the METU catalog), Turnstile (bot protection). Cloudflare processes your IP address and browser details when it serves the pages.
  • Icarus AI (EduCRS): the server that passes AI requests on to Google; it uses Sentry for error records.
  • METU: ODTÜClass and catalog.metu.edu.tr (only when you use those features).

9. Moderators and our team

Moderators are accounts authorised by EduCRS. They can see every note awaiting approval and its file, approve or reject notes, and delete discussions, answers, notes and shared deadlines. They cannot see your private records (your ODTÜClass details, personal deadlines, notifications, votes, Inbox) in the app. Team members with access to the infrastructure accounts can technically reach the data; that access is used only to run the service, fix problems or meet legal obligations.

10. Retention and deletion

  • Your account and posts are kept until you delete them or ask us to; there is no timed automatic deletion. A due date that came from ODTÜClass is deleted at the next sync once it is gone from ODTÜClass.
  • You can delete in the app: your personal deadlines, the shared deadlines you added, your course ratings, your discussions and your answers. When you delete a discussion, its answers are deleted from the database too.
  • There is no button yet to remove a note; you can ask us by email to delete your note and its file. Inbox records and notifications are also deleted on request.
  • Disconnecting ODTÜClass deletes everything kept about it (see 6).
  • There is no delete-account button in the app yet. Write to iletisim@educrs.com from your registered email address and your MetuConnect data (profile, posts and their files, deadlines, notifications, ODTÜClass details) is deleted. Because the account is shared with Icarus AI, say so if you also want the account itself closed; that closes your Icarus AI account too. Requests are completed within 30 days.
  • Data in this browser: signing out removes the ODTÜClass key and the other persistent ODTÜClass data in the browser; your preferences stay (see the Cookie Policy).

11. Security

Connections are encrypted with TLS, and data is encrypted at rest in Google Cloud. Access is limited by database and storage rules: MetuConnect content is open only to verified METU accounts and moderators, and your private ODTÜClass record, personal deadlines, notifications, votes and Inbox are open only to you. The rules also block posting many times in a short span. No system is free of risk; if you notice a security issue, write to us.

12. Your choices and rights

  • Change your name, department, year and bio under Profile → Edit profile.
  • Unfollow a course; you also leave that course's "Members" list.
  • Reset your password under Settings → Account (accounts created with email).
  • Disconnect ODTÜClass under Settings → Integrations, and turn off the weekly brief from its card.
  • Ask for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion at iletisim@educrs.com. For your rights under Turkish law, see the KVKK Notice.

Çerez Politikası

Çerezler ve tarayıcıda veri saklayan benzer teknolojiler (localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB) hakkında: hangisini neden kullandığımız ve nasıl silebileceğin.

1. Uygulama çerez yazmaz

MetuConnect'in kendi kodu çerez yazmaz. Giriş oturumun Firebase Authentication tarafından tarayıcının IndexedDB deposunda tutulur; tercihlerin aşağıdaki gibi localStorage'da durur. Reklam ya da izleme çerezi kullanmayız.

2. Tanıtım sayfasında Google Analytics

Yalnızca tanıtım sayfasında (metuconnect.educrs.com ana sayfası) ve yalnızca çerez bildiriminde "Kabul et" dersen, ziyaretleri saymak için Google Analytics yüklenir ve _ga, _ga_* çerezlerini yazar. "Reddet" dersen ya da seçim yapmazsan yüklenmez. Seçimin bu tarayıcıda (mc-analytics) saklanır; tanıtım sayfasının altındaki "Çerez tercihleri" ile değiştirebilirsin. Reddetmen bir sonraki sayfa yüklemesinden itibaren geçerlidir; daha önce yazılmış _ga çerezlerini tarayıcından silebilirsin. Bu çerezler Google Gizlilik Politikası'na tabidir. Uygulamada ve bu sayfada Google Analytics yoktur.

3. Tarayıcında tuttuklarımız

  • Tercihler (localStorage, kalıcı): tema mc-theme, dil mc-lang, yazı boyutu mc-text-scale, kontrast mc-contrast, hareket mc-motion, kalın yazı mc-bold-text, koyu tema tonu mc-dark-palette, Ayarlar'da son açtığın bölüm mc-settings-section, ODTÜClass dosyalarını nasıl sıraladığın mc-oc-sort; tanıtım sayfasındaki çerez seçimin mc-analytics.

Çıkış yaptığında silinir.

  • IndexedDB: Firebase giriş oturumu. Ayrıca, ODTÜClass sayfaları hızlı açılsın diye dersin dosya listesi, ödevleri, duyuruları ve not dökümünün bir kopyası metuconnect-cache veritabanında tutulur (dosyaların kendisi değil); çıkış yaptığında ya da ODTÜClass bağlantısını kestiğinde silinir.

ODTÜClass'tan okunan bazı ders bilgileri, hızlı açılsın diye bu tarayıcıda geçici olarak tutulabilir; bunlar sunucularımıza gitmez.

4. Üçüncü taraf yüklemeler

Yazı tipleri ve simgeler Google Fonts'tan yüklenir. E-posta ile giriş ve kayıt formunda Cloudflare Turnstile, Google ile girişte Google'ın giriş penceresi çalışır; uygulama Firebase'e ve Icarus AI sunucusuna bağlanır. Bu sağlayıcılar isteği yanıtlamak için IP adresini ve tarayıcı bilgisini görür ve kendi alan adlarında, kendi politikalarına göre çerez ya da benzeri veri tutabilir.

5. Kontrol ve silme

Çerezleri ve site verilerini tarayıcı ayarlarından görebilir, engelleyebilir ya da silebilirsin. Site verilerini silmek seni hesaptan çıkarır, bu cihazdaki tercihlerini sıfırlar ve ODTÜClass anahtarını siler.

Cookie Policy

About cookies and similar technologies that keep data in your browser (localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB): which ones we use, why, and how to remove them.

1. The app sets no cookies

MetuConnect's own code sets no cookies. Your sign-in session is kept by Firebase Authentication in the browser's IndexedDB store, and your preferences sit in localStorage as listed below. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.

2. Google Analytics on the landing page

Only on the landing page (the metuconnect.educrs.com home page), and only if you press "Accept" in the cookie notice, Google Analytics loads to count visits and sets the _ga and _ga_* cookies. If you press "Decline" or make no choice, it does not load. Your choice is kept in this browser (mc-analytics); you can change it with "Cookie preferences" at the bottom of the landing page. Declining takes effect from the next page load; you can delete _ga cookies set earlier in your browser. These cookies are subject to the Google Privacy Policy. There is no Google Analytics in the app or on this page.

3. What we keep in your browser

  • Preferences (localStorage, persistent): theme mc-theme, language mc-lang, text size mc-text-scale, contrast mc-contrast, motion mc-motion, bold text mc-bold-text, dark palette mc-dark-palette, the Settings section you last opened mc-settings-section, how you sort ODTÜClass files mc-oc-sort; your cookie choice on the landing page mc-analytics.
  • Per-account conveniences (localStorage): the codes of the last 6 courses you opened mc-recent-courses:… and that you turned on the weekly announcement brief mc-brief:…. These are not cleared on sign-out.
  • ODTÜClass (localStorage): the access key and connection details odtuclass:…; when you last opened each course's ODTÜClass tab (for new-file markers) odtuclass:seen:…; the files you opened or downloaded odtuclass:opened:…; a marker when your key has expired odtuclass:expired:…. Cleared when you sign out.
  • Temporary (sessionStorage, cleared when you close the tab): the ODTÜClass digest on the dashboard, that is file names per course and short excerpts of recent announcements (15 minutes) odtuclass:digest:…; the time of your previous visit, for new-file markers odtuclass:baseline:…; Icarus AI answers mcai:…. The ODTÜClass keys are also cleared when you sign out.
  • IndexedDB: the Firebase sign-in session. Also, so ODTÜClass pages open quickly, a copy of each course's file list, assignments, announcements and gradebook is kept in the metuconnect-cache database (not the files themselves); it is deleted when you sign out or disconnect ODTÜClass.

Some course information read from ODTÜClass may be kept in this browser for a while so it opens faster; it is not sent to our servers.

4. Third-party loads

Fonts and icons load from Google Fonts. Cloudflare Turnstile runs on the email sign-in and sign-up form, and Google's sign-in window when you continue with Google; the app connects to Firebase and to the Icarus AI server. To answer the request, these providers see your IP address and browser details, and may keep cookies or similar data on their own domains under their own policies.

5. Control and removal

You can view, block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Deleting the site's data signs you out, resets your preferences on that device and removes the ODTÜClass key.
